Today’s best letter comes from Pickens County. Ken Rogers of Easley rightfully tears into un-American misogynist Jim DeMint:
DeMint over edge in abortion attack
Instead of focusing on job creation, congressional Republicans have spent their time passing socially conservative legislation such as the let-women-die bill that would allow hospitals that receive federal funds to deny women life-saving abortion procedures. Now Sen. Jim DeMint, one of the most die-hard anti-choice lawmakers in Washington, has jumped on the bandwagon by adding a radical anti-abortion amendment onto a completely unrelated agriculture, transportation and housing bill. DeMint’s amendment would ban women and their doctors from even discussing abortion over the Internet or through videoconferencing.
There seems to be no end to the line of hopelessly deficient people like our Mr. DeMint who show up on Capitol Hill. The complete lack of honesty, transparency, integrity and openness totally disgust me. But sadly, this speaks more to the people who voted them in than to the politicians themselves. What’s worse, the quality of candidate choices is quickly diminishing because high-quality people are getting so disenchanted with our whole political system. Who knows? Maybe the Occupy Wall Street movement might actually grow into a revolution. We can hope, can’t we?
If only there was a way of impeaching Jim DeMint for his crimes against women.
